I'm switching from Nikon to Canon, but after I buy my new camera, I probably won't have enough money to purchase a new telephoto, so I was considering using a Nikon Lens/Canon body adapter. The problem is, my telephoto is a Sigma for Nikon product. Would that work with a Nikon Lens/Canon Body adapter?

Probably because he wants better images?

No, just kidding (sort of). I love the work you do with a Nikon, Joe.

I honestly don't see what's wrong with nikon. I use my moms Nikon D5100, and my Canon SX40. I love both, and in fact, I like the Nikon more, for many different reasons.

Haha, you guys! :P

I've always preferred Canon. My first camera was a Canon so I developed a love for the company. I need a new body anyway, and now's my chance to switch back.

I'll be saving up for the 400mm f/5.6L or 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L, and I'll need a Canon body.

I don't have a problem with Nikon (or I wouldn't have used one these three years), I just prefer Canon.

Plus, this guy's been a great inspiration ever since I was a little Liam, and he uses mostly Canon: http://www.bobsteelephoto.com/

Yes, it would 'work', but I personally would not recommend it. You will lose many 'features', including auto-focus. Plus, considering the cost of a good adapter like Novoflex, the real benefit is negligible. If you had some pricey Nikon (mount) lenses, it may be worth it, but not with a so-so lens to start with.

Here's an article on this:

Honestly, like I said in another thread, that's a hard argument to counter. I wonder how many enthusiast birders (or wildlife shooters in general) Nikon has lost, simply because they don't have an answer for those two lenses.

I had to spend twice as much to get a lens combo that may or may not be as effective (70-200mm f/2.8 + 2.0x TC). Sure the 70-200mm is a phenomenal lens, but it's crippled a bit by the TC, and I need the TC for reach. The only other options are a 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x TC (much heavier and even more expensive), or a 300mm f/4 + 1.4 TC (cheaper, but no VR). Obviously, a dedicated 400mm f/5.6 would be a much better option to any of these.

There's also the 200-400mm f/4, which is a superb lens, but it's really in another league in both weight and price.

Are you listening, Nikon???

Agreed. If you're intent on switching systems, keep saving until you can buy the whole system, not just a piece of it. BTW I'm a Canon/Nikon agnostic.
