but maybe not, another sight from the river today, was looking for a place to sit and catch a few birds in sunlight, when this hawk starting flapping its wings.. had it stayed quiet I might have walked right on by.. it had a squirrel and it wasn't about to give it up, tried to fly with it a couple times, but couldn't get off the ground so it was hopping around spot top spot always protesting his catch, which I think it thought I wanted to take away.. I took a few pics and left it to its meal, I wish I could have gotten a shot of another squirrel that was on a nearby tree, had quite the expression on its face watching its cousin get eaten, sitting there with its jaws wide open :)

Looks like a Red-tailed with that belly band. Although, wait for some other opinions.

Sadly, that other squirrel was probably just in shock because it just lost it's mate. Personally, I would not have plastered the laughing icon there...

From what I've seen of squirrels behavior, lucky squirrel was probably thinking " I wonder if Hawk will leave any leftovers for me to eat?"
