Saw this out in Riverside at Martha McLean Anza Narrows Park. Acorn Woodpecker?

That hole in the tree is actually their nest/home. There were two of them on this tree and another tree next to it, and they kept going back to the hole and sticking their heads in and at times going in all the way. Must have had little ones in there. Would this be the correct time of year for them to have young?
