Crummy pictures from 6/22/12. Taken from great distance with much glare. At the time I'd thought the bird on the post was an immature chipping sparrow, as there'd been a lot around that month, but now it's looking more finchy to me...? And I can't place the yellow bird on the wire mesh. I did sort of think that both were acting like juveniles, that their interaction resembled feeding solicitation behavior...

Yep, both look like Red-wings. A Meadowlark would have brighter yellow underparts with a sharper contrast on the sides, and a solid black breastband.

Agree with both being RWBBs... The left one sure is yellow! Maybe pollen?

I don't think it's pollen, just a glare from the sun

Thanks, all! I had hypothesized RW for the one on the left, but could not see it for the right hand bird. (Despite the abundance of nice, close RW's under the feeders. You'd think they'd be impossible to mistake...)

I eventually assumed the colors, esp. the yellow, had to be some sort of exposure artifact. (But not before paging thru everything yellow in the bird books, just in case. ^_^ )

One more "mystery" crossed off.
