This was one of those times where access to a better vantage point is impossible and the small window of opportunity you do have is filled with extraneous clutter. My wife and I couldn't figure out what this was. Our guesses ran the gamut from hawks to owls to even possibly a young Black-crowned Night Heron with its head tucked under a wing but in the end we gave up, unable (or unwilling) to even hazard a guess.

Taken Nov 19 in Hamilton.

Totally understandable if nobody wants to say for certainty what this is. :)

Black-crowned Heron looks right, where was this taken?

Big Bird is yellow btw...

I'm not 100%, but I would be comfortable putting this down as a Black-crowned Night-Heron.
