Took these pictures in Michigan yesterday just as he was flying away.

Red-tailed. You can see the dark patagial mark and belly band in the second.

I agree. Looks like a juvenile, which can be confusing because they don't have a red-tail yet!
There are 976 species on the ABA list. Looks like I've got a lot of birding to do... 400 species to go, give or take a few.

Plus, in the first shot--isn't that a good example of the pale primary panel extending through the coverts that psweet is always pointing out?

Yay, I'm so glad I'm retaining some of this stuff! That jumped out at me from the thumbnail before I even enlarged the photo.
