Hooded Mergansers?

Hi Everyone!

My son and I spotted these new birds on our pond in southern CT yesterday! Are they female Hooded Mergansers?

Look like hooded mergansers to me.

First winter male on the left (dark bill and mascara), and female on the right (yellow bill and all brown head).

First winter male on the left (dark bill and mascara), and female on the right (yellow bill and all brown head).


Agree - males always have bright yellow eyes.
