Hi birdboy....I've been wanting to contribute to your thread but just couldn't bring myself to look at my pics that have snow in them yet (we had a lousy summer)..... However, the "S" word is actually in the forecast for us for this weekend!  We generally get 100-200" every year....MORE than enough!

Will try to post some for you soon...

I saw there was snow forecast for up there, sandy...  not so much fun if you live up there, I suppose, but it sure makes Crystal Mountain a lot more enjoyable!

Yes it does, Obnates!  One "nice" thing is that we generally go from "Fall" directly into Snow.....No, what I call "brown time"...

Ok, birdboy.....Here's a Red Bellied Woodpecker from last winter for you!

I don't see a lot of snow, but I do get around sometimes.  This one is from Banff National Park in Alberta, a Common Raven in a sudden blizzard (he wasn't having any more fun than we were!)

    Re: show me snow

For the past two years, a single Starling spends his winter with a flock of doves in the yard.  In general, we seldom see a Starling (yay!).  He's so funny hanging out with his adopted family, I named him Sammy.... (I know, I need a life...)

    Re: show me snow

Two of the ski resorts here in Colorado are open for the season but here in the valleys the snow is still a month off. I am starting to get some of my winter visitors because of the colder temps. but the winter

birds are still in the higher country and will drop down to lower elevations as the snow does too. I am cleaning up feeders and taking down the summer stuff and putting out the winter goodies.

I don't think the photo loaded the first time...

Here is a "winter" Blue Jay.  They come to the feeders/water along with Red-breasted Nuthatch, White-breasted Nuthatch, Cedar Waxwings, Bushtits, Black-capped Chickadees, Juncos, Downy Woodpeckers, Northern Flickers, House Finch and an occasional Townsend's Solitaire.  We had snow flurries in Denver this week.
