Nope, haven't read the book but now that my curiosity is peaked I'll have to search the web and find it...and read it!  Sounds interesting

    It's a great book...

Kenn Kaufman tells about how he hitchhiked around the continent at the age of sixteen in search of birds, trying to set the record for most seen in one year.

The Rowlett's Owlet is an inside joke between him and his friends... I just had the urge to say it for some reason.

Hey, no problem, at least not now that I understand what you're talking about a little better.  Just thought for a minute there you had been hanging around with our feathered friends a little too long and had flown into a window!  ;))

I actually have my librarian looking for the book now but I may end up buying it anyway!

I've read it! I knew I recognized that phrase!

On the topic of the book - it was a wonderfully interesting read! I really enjoyed it. I've almost all of the big year books that have been published - this ranks top but the others were good as well.

It was a great book. On the topic of Big Year books, have you ever read Pete Dunne's "The Feather Quest"?

Well my librarian called me and said they cannot afford to order the book right now so I guess I'll be buying it.  In Google checkout I can get one for less than $2 so from what I've seen you say It'll be worth it to order the book.

Re: Have you ever not seen a Rowlett's Owlet?

    Hi,

It sounds really interesting so I just went on line and had my library put a hold on it for me.  If I love it I can always buy it later - though I'm sure I won't get the "deal" that valleygirl got!!  The next one will be the Feather Quest.  I was needing a good book - I've always got to have a book going and right now I'm reading a very old, weird science fiction series that I don't really like - but, it was here so why not.....

Re: Have you ever not seen a Rowlett's Owlet?

Yeah, you can get the same deal Nancy.  Just Google the title and I think it's Google Checkout or something like that and you can buy it at full price or get a used one at a cheap price.  I'll have to check that Feather Quest out next.  I love to read, too
