    moderator approval?

    Hello,

I've posted several threads to the bird identification forum and have found this community to be very friendly and helpful.  About four hours ago I tried to post a new thread there and got a funny message about new posts to the forum needing moderator approval.  It said I would be emailed when my post was approved.  I've never seen this message before, i never got the email, and my post never showed up in the forum.  I tried again about three hours ago thinking that maybe there was some funny glitch involved with the first one.  Same results - or lack of.

What's going on?  Should I try my post again?  I don't want a bunch of duplicates to pop up.

    Thanks.

This message shows up if you have more than 3 photos or links, I think.  Keep your posts to under 3 of each and I don't think you should get that message.

You're right.  I cut the photos to two and it worked.  I didn't know.

    Thanks!

It also shows up if you try to copy and paste too much typed material from outside sources.

    Re: moderator approval?

This happened to me too and I had the same questions.  The message does not explain what was wrong with the post and it does state that the moderator will send an email, which didn't happen.  It would be very helpful if there was someplace one could readily find the rules to avoid these problems.  This is a real useful site in some respects, but it is sorely lacking some of the basics, like an intuitive posting process and helpful FAQs.  I've been on many forums and this is by far the least user friendly I've ever used.

    Re: moderator approval?

Deborah579...one suggestion , if you  have an alternate email address, make a new account, log on with the new account and ask your questions there...one thing that doesnt work, and this may be causing your problem, if you log out, it asks you  if you wanna go back to the other page...don't hit yes- hit the "forum" button above, and you should go back to forum, and show you are logged off...

    Re: moderator approval?

Birdseye.. someone or it just fixed itself. I could respond to a post in the Identify a Bird forum, but i couldnt post. It would send up a notice everytime i tried. So i just clicked off the program and left for a couple of days. Whatever it was seems to have fixed itself. Its just very frustrating trying to get an answer to a help question on this forum.
