    Barn Swallow issue

    My first post is a swallow taken in Nebraska I think... Young bird... without adult plumage.... I don't have a photo of Barn Swallow in mature plumage.

    I invite mature Barn Swallow pictures to this post.

    I'll develope the issue in the second post.

    My second post is of a Swallow... (Barn Swallow) but this picture was taken in a Greek Island.

    The tail feathers are remarkably longer... but the scientific name of these birds is the same.

    I don't understand... birds that don't look alike have the same name (Scientific).  An ostrich does not look like a sparrow but they are different... why not the swallows???

    One thing about the life on this planet, there is always something more to learn.

    The reason that they have the same scientific name is that they are the same bird.  However, there are subspecies.  I'll try and paste some more information.
