$1700 for the body only then you have to add lenes to that if you do not already have a canon DSLR body this is canon's 18 mega pixel camera.

From some of the postings I have read about this camera, there may be a noise problem when you have the ISO set above 400. I also have read that you really don't need 18 mp unless you are going to be printing billboard size photo's. What I have read is that 12 megapixel will easily print 16x20 prints with great quality and 10 megapixels will print 11x14 prints with great quality. From what I have read, most photographers would rather have a 12 megapixel camera with less noise than the higher megapixel. I am not saying anything bad about this camera, just passing on what I have read on other forums. Kiwi would probably know more about the benefits of the higher megapixels.

This may scare a few folks here but here it is for most folks 5 to 6 mega pixels is all that is needed if you want to get involved with photoshop or any of the the other editing programs that are available then then 10 to 25 mega pixels is better the canon 7D is only an upgrade to the 50D that had a number of problems

Could you give me the reference on "noise problem above ISO 400" ?

Here's a fairly objective-sounding review, with some examples.  Their take seems to indicate that the noise performance is acceptable for the price range.  Not as good as a pro camera, but better than the 50D.
