Hi, I longed to upgrade my iPaq so that I could get iBird for Windows Mobile.  Then my daughter bought an iPod touch so I bought a copy for her.

Now I want my own copy, but I have fallen in love with my new Android phone. 

Please port to Android !

I absolutely refuse to use AT&T as my mobile provider.  As AT&T is currently the only provider that works with the iPhone, that leaves me iPhone-less, and iBird-less.  Verizon (my mobile provider) is about to release the Droid and I'd pick one up in a second if only it supported an Android port of iBird!

 I am impressed that Android has emerged with such strength against the iPhone. I was really on the fence about it vs the Palm Pre. But seems like there are many carriers and computer companies and even ebook reader companies jumping all over the open nature of the Android.

I was wondering if there was any status update on this. I am very much considering getting the droid, but the app store is well....lacking to say the least. If apps like this are in fact available I will probably dump att and get the droid. 

I have read several different things regarding storage of apps....the droid only has either 256 or 512 (i forget) of in-phone storage, with the 16G on a card....many say apps CANNOT go on the card at all, and others say only a small part of the app needs to go on the phone, while the rest can go on the card. Is this one of the issues being resolved before it becomes available to android?

I know most apps are less than 1Mb usually, so in most cases this does not matter, but many games and apps such as the ibird or very large and this becomes an issue.

Hope to hear what is going to happen soon, I hope to be picking up a droid in a week or two!

I'd like to think we'll be seeing a lot of Apple iPhone apps ported to the Android, but its going to depend on one thing which is how close to the manufacturers stick to the standards. If carriers make all kinds of custom hardware that mangles the way a program handles, for example, IO, then developers will be swimming up hill. Meaning no developer wants to have to make changes in there program for different phones. That is what happened to Windows Mobile and it was in my opinion a sign of poor control by Microsoft.  Right now if you buy a T-Mobile Touch  you get a 4GB microSD card and 512MB of RAM (or is it 256MB?). Devs can put programs on the SD card easily and do it all the time, otherwise you could not even install a dictionary program.

Does this mean that you are having second thoughts about porting iBird to Android?

 If not, do you have any idea when it might be available (understanding that this is not a commitment)?

I just got my htc hero and would love to have ibird for it, any news on if you might be porting it soon. I had a Palm Pre but had build quality problems, went thru 5 units and was able to exchange to a hero. Love it so far.

Got my Droid  over the weekend...loving it. Only thing missing is ibird!!!!

Just curious what the status of getting this over on the android market is.

Just throwing my 2 cents in to say that I'm another Android user who would LOVE to see iBird on my device. And yes, I'd happily buy it a second time. :)
