    Saffron Finch?

    Attachment: 2nov15.JPG

    Dear experts,

I was having a leisury walk in the Paris region of France, when I came upon a bird that did not seem French at all: small size, completely bright yellow with some orange tinges (it does look almost tropical). I was wondering if any of you could help me identify it. It looks somewhat like a saffron finch, but its wings get whiter at the tip instead of darker... I spotted this one on the second of November. I am attaching a picture.

In advance, many thanks for your help,

     Cuiv.

    Re: Saffron Finch?

Looks to be a red factor canary, probably an escaped pet, if you can catch it, do so, it probably wont make it long in the wild.

    Re: Saffron Finch?

I'm pretty sure it isn't a Saffron Finch, I've seen (introduced) Saffron Finches in Ecuador and they didn't look like that. My area of expertise is not domesticated birds, so I can't help much here.

Keep in mind that a canary IS a finch. But I used to have canaries as pets, it's a red factor mix.
