Mega large number of birds today

For a while there were few birds, but today, there was a mega flock of birds. Birds flying everywhere. The yard has several flocks that pop out of the tall grass. The feeder was nearly full this morning but is almost empty now. I was curious to see if these birds outburst are weather related?

    I am near Chicago.

    So far I have seen:

Different kind of sparrows (I think the bulk of them are sparrows or something brown and small)

Female Gosbeaks, but no males (either that or it's mutant sparrows that are nearly cardinal size).

5-6 different Cardinals male and female.

Slate color Junco's (actually fewer of them).

    Mourning Doves (normal numbers)

    2-3 Blue Jays

Male and female Downy woodpecker (normal number)

One or two Hairy woodpecker (or something that looks like downy but is bigger than a cardinal)

Lots of Red wing black birds (more than usual)

    Chickadee's (normal numbers)

    A few robins.

    I guess no unusual birds.

I have more birds than usual today; probably double the number from a few days ago. Our first snow storm of the year just hit - I'm sure this has something to do with it.
