    Denver Area Ducks

    I shot some ducks this evening near Lakewood, Colorado.  I think I've identified them correctly but would like a 2nd (or 3rd) opinion.

    Photo 1:  Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) drake and Redhead (Aythya americana) drake.

    2nd Photo: Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) drake and duck.

    Photo 1 is of a male and female Common Goldeneye. #2 is of a male and female Hooded Merganser.

    Aha.  A female Common Goldeneye.  I missed that, but now that I look at it, obviously that's what she is.  The bill is much smaller on these Goldeneyes than on most ducks.  Now, I see these two for what they are - a breeding pair.  Thanks for the feedback.
