here is one that i took yesterday. speckled-belly goose and glossy ibises in background. this SB goose was injured, and i assume that is why it is still around (south La), thousands of miles from where it should be this time of year. its mate flew off before i could include it in the photo (~200yds). its amazing that the mate, while capable of flight, stayed back in wintering territory with this bird while all of their other fellow migrants are far off in the north in breeding range. a clear sign of the power of pair bonds in some birds.
