Re: Strange, odd or flat wrong

Re: Strange, odd or flat wrong
Bingo, its a male brown-headed cowbird and a female bronzed-cowbird. My compliments. The two females are compared below (top BHCO, bottom BROC). A bit of a reach, but thought the pairing of opposite genders of two different parasitic species was a bit odd.

Re: Strange, odd or flat wrong
Jim... Is the oddity on the Western Tanager i that its head is not red enough for this time of year. You may be right but that is not the oddity.

Birdseye... my guess on the tanager is it is on the ground.. they stay mostly in the upper canopy..? Bingo you are correct. The sad thing about this picture is that the bird impacted against a neighbor's window and was injured.

Picture 4: Common Grackle, the nest is a bit lean on eggs.
(I'm not sure about species, could be GTGR instead. I'm taking a clue from the image's filename. Not sure if you meant that or not)

Picture 5: I read the answer to this one in another post, so I'll let someone else have a chance I'll just say that this is a unique idea for a quiz, Matt. It's far from lame. I hope there's more coming!

Re: Strange, odd or flat wrong
Well, I wasn't thinking in that direction concerning the Western Tanger. The ones that I've observed were all at eye-level or certainly low scrub level.
