Kiwi said it better than me... I guess I was musing on some frustrations with auto focus... which is almost always wrong while birding.  Bottom line is that ...if things go well and you are lucky... and the little bleeding wing flapper allows you more than 1/5 of a second to focus... then MAYBE you get the shot...

I have to agree that the hummigbird photo is gorgeous.  What kind is it?  I've only seen the green and white ones.

Its a male Anna's Hummingbird.  Nearly the whole head is covered in those iridescent red feathers, so when the light catches it right, it throws off several colors.
