Seattle, I am the world's worst bird identifier but will risk it all by saying it looks like a mocker to me.

Now that we have totally hijacked lyceel's thread, how about some rictal bristles...

Seattle:  I'd have to agree with ratty-looking mocker!  Matt's looks like a juvenile mocker (probably recently fledged) to me.

And don't worry about the thread, I've inadvertently hijacked my share of threads Wink

Here's the two little guys that hatched in my tiny oak tree this May...

Oh yeah, I meant to say thanks for the compliments, everyone!

This was just an opportunity that I was able to take advantage of.  I'm just glad she was patient enough to let me get the shot lined up!

I highly recommend the sunroof technique (if you've got the equipment for it).  I posted this one before, but just as a reminder, this was my first sunroof shot...

The mocker is an awesome shot Lyceel, and even more impressive as her mouth is closed!  They do love to sing!

Another nice shot!  What type of hawk is that - Red-shouldered?

I used to have a car with a sunroof but traded it in a few years ago.  I wasn't into birding at the time that I had the car, though - too bad - that's a great idea!

Since seeing lyceel's marvelous original post I thought I wanted to do that too! Well, I tried. Here's a Northern Mockingbird, today in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. November 16, 2009.

The November sun is pretty weak around these parts, but it was a beautiful day.

    Uncropped.

I had the aperture set at f/6.3 and the white balance set on cloudy even though it was sunny.

Yep. It sure helps when they are not afraid of you and pose for 5 minutes. A rarity and so welcomed.
