The baby Pileated with mama feeding him was such a HOOT! She would just mow on the suet, then go stuff it down his little (er...BIG...beak)... They never pose when the lighting is right!
Mama (and maybe youngster....since I think they look alike now) still come to the suet 3-4 times a day. I've seen Daddy perched up in the trees overseeing everything. He won't come down to the feeder tho.
I totally missed the Great Blue nest at Orlando Wetlands (practically in my back yard!). Some other folks at Orange Audubon got some great shots of the little one.
Well, OK, I didn't totally miss it, but I had no idea what it was until later...
