    Re: Hungry, hungry blue jays!

My blue jays like both shelled and unshelled peanuts as well as black oil sunflower seeds.  I started buying the shelled peanuts because they were strangely less expensive.  It is fun to watch them cram about 3-5 or more in their beaks before flying off with them.  They seem to swallow the sunflowers shell and all.  I also just put them on my deck railing or platform feeder along the deck edge.  They just swoop down and grab them.

We have too many blue jays to count. I havent seen them reject any type of food yet. Im working on moving them to a different part of the yard so other birds can get a chance at the various feeders. Unsalted peanuts seem to be doing the trick - of course with all of the Jays we have were going through peanuts like crazy.

Their pretty birds but dont like to share with others - have fun!

    Happy Birding!

My feeder has a small platform, and now I see blue jays all the time at my feeder.  I'll try to get some pictures of it.

I heard the wind calling my name; see if it calls you.

Stellar's Jays like peanuts too. They can stuff a lot of them in their beaks!
