    What a pose!

Violet-green swallow. Seems it comes natural with them!

Sadly they said goodbye to us for this summer ....

I finally got my new lens, Sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3, and have to say that I am quite pleased with it. I got a bunch of Belted Kingfisher pics, which I will post in a new thread later tonight, but I thought I'd post this one here for susanwinfl.

My unorganized pictures can be viewed at

    Lonestranger,

Very (grumble, grumble) nice (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) pic (humph), Lonestranger!  Kingfishers are my nemisis, I swear, I can't even SLOW a car near them without them flying off. Now MAYBE with a 500, I wouldn't have to be in the same county with them?  LOL! Congrats on the great pic, AND the new lens!

Singing off now, to go mutter about you under my breath!!! Grumble grrrrrrr grumble......

Don't feel bad - I finally got a few okay shots of Kingfishers today but not even CLOSE to the quality of yours!  They are quite skittish!

Sorry, Matt. I'm afraid there's too much white on their throat and upper breast to make a Cassin's out of either of them. Better luck next time. My problem is the same. I've seen and gotten photos of dozens of Westerns, but I've yet to spot a Cassin's!! Sad
