Kirkland's Warbler (endangered) seen in new location in MI

The endangered Kirkland's Warbler was spotted on the Yellow Dog Plains in Michigan's Upper Penninsula.  In 2005 only 18 specimens were counted in the U.P.  This sighting may help in the effort to prevent the building of a sulfide mine that threatens the environment in that region.

To read the newspaper article about this sighting go to: http://www.miningjournal.net/stories/articles.asp?articleID=4048

And to learn more about the area and the effort to prevent the mine go to: http://www.savethewildup.org/

Good post. It is endangered both provincially here in ontario and nationally. The primary breeding range of Kirtland's Warbler is the jack pine plains of central Michigan.
