Hello all,

I'm new to this site and am trying to figure it out. The reason I logged on is because I'm on a fishing boat 40 miles off the Washington coast. We have a few land birds visiting us and yesterday we found what appears to be a Eurasian collared dove. I looked it up and it appears that it is found in the SE United States.

I posted a couple of pictures in the gallery yesterday and would like confirmation if that is what we have onboard. It's been eating breadcrumbs that we set out - apparently doesn't have an appetitie for fish....

Any comments?

Where are the pictures?

We have the collard dove here in Southwestern New Mexico.

I read an article recently that the collared dove is greatly expanding its range. Apparently there are a few in Ohio, although I have yet to see one.

I finally found the gallery after I selected to view All Galleries and entered his name in the search box.

After seeing the pics I think it could be a collared-dove although it doesnt look exactly like the picture in my fieldguide.  The pic in my field guide shows white edging around the black collar and a white feather on each side of it's tail so I'm not sure
