    Subscription or not?

Which is it, Mitch? It seems as though you're talking out of both sides of your mouth. Like George Bush the 1st said back when he was President, "Read my lips, no more taxes!" Then taxes went up!

"There are no plans to charge for subscriptions... you can't run a site for free for very long..."

Do you plan to charge for a subscription or not? You're saying, 'you can't run a site for free for very long...' Do you want donations, maybe?

Not a very friendly attitude....  You get more with honey, than with vinegar...

Did they get you to trade, your hero's for ghosts?

    Re: Subscription or not?

I dont "plan" to do anything. One concept being explored is the standard industry model of both free and paid content.

Wow I never thought I would see the day when my name and old georgie are used in the same paragraph. I guess I should be flattered.

    Re: Subscription or not?

Well Norman_24, the subject here has nothing to do with honey and vinegar. It's about seeing a subscription in the future for this website, and Mitch saying there is not going to be a subscription for the website, yet he says, "you can't run a site for free for very long..."

Why don't you, Norman_24, wake up and smell the vinegar?

    Re: Subscription or not?

Seriously gccrews, what is your problem? I don't want to get mean, but is this really all you have going on in your life that you can devote this kind of anger towards it? Looking for some kind of hidden message or inconsistancy where there is not one?

Is there some kind of past bad blood that I and others are not aware of? If there is could you take it up privately? This is supposed to be a nice calm hobby generally speaking...take your tinfoil hat and bad attitude to another place please.

    Re: Subscription or not?

purplerain...is there some type of time warp that maybe you're living in from your bad past? I don't have a bad past, or any inconsistencies. But with a name like purplerain, a movie from a bad past, and an artist with one too, you might want to become consistent and catch up to the 21st century. Purple Rain....bad movie, bad artist. And that's what you're name is associated with, and you talk about me with a tinfoil hat? It's 2008...not 1984. Being a bird watcher, which you probably are, I bet you have his album, "When Dove's Cry" hanging on your living room wall!

Well now just look again 'cause her user id is in fact purplePain, not purpleRain....

gccrews....imo it would benefit for you to see the perspective of the owner of this site. Imagine VOLUNTEERING your grand bird passion via an online site (lots of time, money etc) and then inviting in the public. Imagine that you have given so much and are simply asking for a bit of support to keep it going and even to expand. You put that out there and yet with no definitive plan...just want to see the response and ideas from others, it really is a group community effort in a way. Gosh you have given so much and then are surprised to find that there is one who does not want to support and expresses this in an "attacking" and defensive way. Never expected that...

    So how does that feel....

    Re: Subscription or not?

Oh! I apologize to anyone who I've insulted, or caused hurt feelings. I feel so stupid now after reading Aion-Nara's response. I will support this site in any way I can. I don't want to loose the few friends I've made here; giving me invaluable advice about birds. I need to calm down in my old age, and lonesome life. Again, I apologize to everyone.

    Re: Subscription or not?

Hey, it's cool! We all get a little emotional sometimes.

Sorry if my post was harsh...I just got a little unsettled because this board is SO CALM compared to the other boards I post on where I debate politics, religion and social issues....LOL

BTW, my username is actually kinda funny, when I was pregnant I had preeclampsia and my feet got REALLY swollen and purple...thus the name "Purple Pain"...I've been using it for many things for 4-5 years now...LOL
