Gorgeous shot, Cairnstone!  "My" Gadwalls aren't as nice; they were hard to get close enough to - quite skittish (but you probably have a long-range lens on your camera!)

Actually no, Curlybird. I did not have the big lens on for that shot. I had the 55-200mm lens on. There are a few spots in Toronto where the Gadwalls are really approachable. This was taken at Humber Bay East Park (I know that means nothing to you). Gadwalls are so abundant here.

Nice American Wigeon shot, Matt - I think yours has mine beat! (posted a couple weeks ago).

Mine is only as clear as it is because I have an advantage - there is a group of them that winter at the lake in middle of my apt. complex, and if I have food, they will come even closer!

Interesting how we go from a smudge, then to one gender, then the other, and finally a shot of a pair.

We need another "wade through some mud and water" story...

A not so great picture of a pair of oystercatchers in June 2009 on Bartholome, Galapagos, Ecuador.

In defense of the poor camera work... I was currently snorkeling, and shot that with a canon d10 waterproof point and shoot model.... pretty good considering it was on an underwater setting....  and I was in the water. Also, shortly after a galapagos penguin ran right into me...

    A pair of deadpan comics.

2 vultures were in the desert eating a dead clown.  The first vulture asks... Does this taste funny to you?

The agent asks the vulture if she could check-in the luggage.  The vulture responds, "no thanks, its carrion."

Why did the vulture land in the road?  Because the chicken didn't make it.

Just to show that birds don't always cooperate for a photo-op and that more that one shot may be necessary to get a good photo, here is one of the shots of the above pair!! I took several to get the one I posted above.
