    Need Bird ID

Anyone here know what this bird might be?  I haven't a clue!!!  I've logged in 19 species this summer and this seems new to me...  Thanks...

Good pictures.  I don't have my books with me at the moment, but start by looking at the kingbirds and the bigger flycatchers.  Is the bird about the size of a mockingbird?  It looks to be basically a drab dark color on the back and chest and underside of tail with white or light belly.  Did you see any color flashes at all when the bird flew?

    Re: Need Bird ID

Thanks for your reply...  I don't have my book as well at the moment but will look at those you mentioned and see what I can find... I would have never guessed to look at those...   I don't remember seeing any flash colors as it happened so fast...  These photo's are cropped quite a bit, as the bird was far and high in the tree..

Thanks Jim, you've given me somewhere's to start anyways...  I'll check here first and see...

I did a search here and came up with a Gray Jay... What do you think?  I know the color around the eyes aren't the same, possibly a variant?

    Re: Need Bird ID

i saw a gray jay years ago in MT.  I believe that the head shape is not right and they are usually a nice shade of grayish.

    Re: Need Bird ID

Thanks, your probably right... BTW: It is about the size of a Mockingbird too...  Further looking into this, tells me it just may be a Mockingbird..  This a pic I got off of Google..   I deleted this photo...

I agree with eastern kingbird. You can see the white tail tip in the second picture.

    Re: Need Bird ID

Thanks for all your replys.. I am still a bit confused...  But after looking at my Thayer's eField computer guide and Sibley's Guide, I guess I have to lean towards the Eastern Kingbird... I thank you all for helping to verify my 20th bird species that has visited my yard, or neighbors trees...Big Smile  My birdwatch recording began May 1st as I'm still very much a newb...

I did go and look into my Guides since my last Posting to you, but haven't had the time to get back to you.  I agree that it does look like and Eastern Kingbird.
