    OK Mitch...

I have to get this off my chest.  iBirdPlus has made life worth living.  Ok, maybe that's a bit much, but I cannot tell you how much I use and love this program!

I have a place in the Piney Woods of East Texas (on Lake Livingston.)  We are lucky to enjoy one of the areas in the US to be able to see the most diverse selection of North American birds.  I literally live on my iPhone as I watch the various residents and migrants that pass through my backyard.  While I still keep my field guides handy, IBirdPlus has made identifying the newbies much easier.

As a testament to the recorded calls, I have even had an Arcadian Flycatcher come down to greet me when I played that call while playing with the program.  I had never seen one here before.  (NOTE:  I now only play back bird songs indoors so as not to disrupt natural behaviors.)

As an early tech adopter, I am anxious to try iBirdPro.  The "search by call" feature I've read about is all-to-enticing.  But I may wait until Apple has sorted out the upgrade issues as suggested in previous posts.

Thank you again for such a wonderful program - you all are helping the birding community immensely!

    LOL

Listings would be a great feature.  I keep an excel spreadsheet as a bird checklist - it would be nice to be able to tick off sightings in the program.

OK, I'm new to this forum, and am not an avid birder, at least not yet.  How about this for an idea.  The iPhone knows where it is and it knows the date.  Thus you do not need to tell it what state you are in and what month it is.  Furthermore, in a logging/list feature, the iPhone can automatically enter the date/time and location.  Thus you could perhaps use iPhoto/Places to display your sightings.

Apologies, if this has already been suggested.

    Re: iBird Plus vs. Pro

    Hey guys

I am a bird watcher and amatuer wildlife photographer from Western Australia. We dont have anything like IBird available for us, I would love it if you were willing to create something for Australia, and I would be willing to help as much as I can.

I love the IBird software, I bought Plus several months ago and I think I will upgrage to the Pro version now. I was in the USA last October and this software saved my life, i cant believe how well it works.

The only thing I would like to see is some sort of check list, so at anytime you can know whether the bird you just saw is a new species for you.

Keep up the great work and let me know if I can help setting up an Australian version.

    Thanks
