Male House Finch w/Eye Injury or Eye Disease ?

I'm no bird specialist, but I'm trying to read up on what makes an eye a "diseased eye," compared to an eye injury. I'm not sure if this finch has an infection or if it may have gotten in a fight with another bird? If it's an infection, I'd like to transport it to the local rescue clinic, which does take in sick/injured birds free-of-charge. Would anyone here be able to help identify what might be wrong with this finch? It comes to my feeder daily and it's been bumping into things lately, obviously because it can't see good. Thanks for your help in advance. :)

Conjunctivitis is common among House Finches. The infected bird has, unfortunately, a very short life expectancy...it will starve if a cat doesn't get it first.

It is highly contagious. If the bird in question is mingling with other finches at your feeder, take it down and clean it thoroughly.

I'm not sure if it can be communicated to humans, but I'd take great care ( rubber gloves, mask ) when dealing with the bird.

What is not forbidden is inevitable.
