Great shot of the teals, in fact a number of the images posted on this thread are very good.  Here is one of my better flight images of ducks (White-faced in this example):

I second that!  (but I like yours better, John)  This is one of my very early bird photos, taken in Feb. shortly after I started getting interested in birds.

And one of the easier ones to photograph in flight, because they're so large and they sort of float in the air!

How about Amer. White Pelicans?  I finally got some decent shots of them, as they are very scarce in So CA until Fall/Winter I guess - there is a huge group of them at a place I go to in Irvine, CA, today.

    Re: In Flight

That's a great diving picture!  We were down at the ocean yesterday and we saw literally 100's of pelicans.  Way more than we usually see.  Our thought was that they were flocking to head south, but we really don't know.  They would fly west along a jetty just to turn around and fly east about a mile just to turn around and do it again.  The day was pretty warm for us, no rain, and a stiff north  wind of about 25 or 30 mph.  It seemed to us that they were just enjoying the day, they made no attempt to dive or fish for food.  They would fly directly over our heads - they are really cool birds.  After the DDT decline we didn't have them for many years.

Caspian Tern at Merritt Island, FL.  Thought the back-lighting and the angle were kind of unique on this one...

I didn't exactly plan this shot, but I thought it came out pretty cool.  Some DC Cormorants were arguing with each other over who got which perch, when a much larger bird (I didn't ever see what it was) spooked them all into the air.  The small flock flew around in a circle and landed back where they came from, but they just happened to cross in front of the sunset on their way...

Great shot, lyceel. It couldn't have turned out any better if it had been a planned shot!!
