    Hello from Orlando

Hi, everyone!  I came across this site trying to identify this little guy (or girl?) that stumped both me and another birder over at the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.

Thanks to the wealth of info on this site, I now know it's a sora!  I really like the search engine, and I've already gone and bought iBird Explorer Pro for my iPhone.  I can't wait to go back out to Merritt Island now!

I've been a casual bird-lover for several years now, but I've been getting more and more active with my photography recently.  My Christmas present this year was a new 70-300mm AF-S VR lens for my Nikon D100.  It's amazing how much sharper my pics got just because of that little vibration reduction gizmo. In addition to the Merritt Island shots I took earlier this week, I've recently taken a number of shots from my parents' place along the St. Lucie River, and I've got several others from Lake Okeechobee.  I'll be trying to fill up my gallery with some of these shots in the coming weeks, so feel free to stop by and check them out.

Hi lyceel, Welcome to what bird. I am from New Zealand and have been living in the states for about 9 years I can name the NZ birds but the US ones really stump me and the people and this site have been great. You are really going to enjoy being a part of this family

    Regards Peter

Welcome to Whatbird, lyceel!  Nice pic, too.  I've never seen a Sora before.  Congrats on your new lens.  I can't wait to get a new lens of my own...some day!  LOL
