    Downy pic edited

This is a pic I posted in the Photo Sharing forum.

I adjusted the exposure on the (pruned) wood grain because the flash really reflected off it.

I also cloned out the twig that was just behind her.

it is a nice photo but it looks a bit flat to me

here I warmed it up in camera raw by +2 set the recovery slider to 44 ,-2 contrast and a +28 clarity,

Then in Photoshop Used 0.5px of highpass sharping and added a contrast curve to adjust the contrast rather than attempt it in camera raw with a low res file for the web.

I'm obviously no expert, and maybe a little one sided as cairnstone is a friend but his(cairnstone) photo seems to me to have a bit more depth than yours (thekiwi).

I don't know, maybe its just me. And its just a beginners opinion.

Don't forget I only had the low resolution (the web image that cainstone uploaded) Not the full resolution version and that makes a very big difference. It is still cairnstone photo not mine

thekiwi's edit looks just fine to me.

However, my only intention was to nullify the distracting flash reflections off of the wood grain.

I hadn't really concerned myself with the overall picture just yet.

Nice job with the edit, Cairnstone, I'd say you hit the mark.  I also like the extra warmth and contrast in Kiwi's edit.
