    Hello from Northern BC, Canada

Have loved watching birds for years, used to be an avid bird watcher while I lived in the Vancouver area of BC.  Now I live in Northern BC and bird watching went on the backburner for a few years as I am a single mother working full-time.  But I did keep up the feeders in my backyard.  Finally find that I have time to actively watch the birds.  I am having trouble finding people who enjoy birds that live in my area or even BC for that matter.  Hi to everyone :-)

I made a post a couple of days ago on my mystery bird which turned out to be a first year male yellow-headed blackbird.  It is said to be rare in my area but I am still trying to confirm that.  Seems strange to have a solo male around without any others.  Although I do have many red-winged blackbirds.  Thanks to all for the help on that one. :-)

Maybe the male is alone after breeding here in California then migrating back north. We see them in colonies by the thousands with other blackbirds near marshes and dairy farms. Click here to link to the Canadian Wildlife Service they keep records of all reported sightings plus there's some other links you may be interested in looking at too. BTW, welcome. Your mentioning BC made me remember skiing at Blackcomb years ago and riding the T-bar, wow, very cold but what fun!
