    Swainson's Hawk

    I saw this hawk recently soaring over an open field at the edge of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.  I think that it's a Swainson's Hawk with a light color morph.  Is this right?  I notice that the wings are more pointed than a Red-tailed Hawk, and his tail is longer as well.  Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, he was soaring really high.  I shot this with a Canon EOS 50D and a 400mm lens.  He was up there.  His prominent white markings beneath his wings made me think he was actually a remote controlled plane at first.

    I agree...Swainson's light. Good shot. Below is a photo I got a couple of weeks ago. You can see the color pattern is the same in your photo.
