Colors of a morning dove but the body of a sparrow

I have a unique visitor to my feeders lately. I haven't been able to get a picture because the bird flies away when it sees movement. It has the pale colors of a dove but the body of a sparrow. The beak is not sparrow like though, it's more thin and curved. I'm very new to this bird identification stuff so I apologize if this is too easy :)

This bird seems alone. No partner and there's never more than one at a time. He doesn't come around often. Mostly, I have cardinals, robins, chickadees gold finches and house finches. I have a mix of feed and feeders: a hummingbird feeder (which has yet to attract any), some perch type feeders with a mix bag of sunflower and the like. I have some suets, tubes,  a couple feeders of safflower (which is completely being ignored) and some thistle bags (also being ignored). This bird sticks to the "song bird" grocery store mix instead of anything specific.

    Any ideas?

    TIA!

    Julie

P.s. I did the what's that bird search and didn't come up with anything but morning dove. But this is much smaller than a dove and again the body is not dove-like

Edited to add: i'm in mid-michigan

I maybe have found the answer: american pipet. Hopefully I can get a picture soon.

Welcome to WhatBird, Julie.  American Pipits should, at this time, be either in northern Canada, or up in the Rockies.  They also are not prone to visiting feeders.  However, with birds "stuff happens", so please post your pics and we'll be glad to take a look.

    Hi Julie,

Try looking at a picture of a Carolina Wren.

Thanks for the responses. It doesn't look like a Carolina Wren. No yellowish or dark browns. It's very pale and bland in color.

I saw it again today and I almost got a pic but the little bugger got away!

It does sound like a wren, though. If you had said "mockingbird size". I would have said " cuckoo?

I noticed you mentioned hummingbird feeders. They have to be RED and conspicuous. And don't use that red junk, make your own sugar water. I bet they are around, also, the water has to be fresh, changed daily.

Good luck with birds, they are wonderful to watch!!!

Must be very large.  Here's similar one.
