The note feature should not be hard to find.
Select any species.
Look at the mini-menu at the bottom. Notes is NOT THERE.
Swipe your finger across the mini-menu.
This reveals additional options.
See the star? That lets you move that species to a special "favorites" list.
See the square with the pencil/pen? The square represents a pad, the pencil/pen represents a writing implement.
The icon represents writing a NOTE
Tap this NOTE icon, and it opens up the note feature.
