    My nuthatches

    Attachment: rbn1.jpg

My nuthatches are getting a lot more active as the season changes and boy are they tame! I think I even caught it's dandruff (to the right).

Taken this afternoon. No crop. 200mm focal length.

    Red-breasted Nuthatch.

That's an awesome picture!! I have been seeing my usual White-Breasted Nuthatch pair visiting the feeders more now, and this little Red-Breasted Nuthatch was in a pine tree not far from my feeder.  I was so close to him I could have reached out and touched him!  It was amazing being so close and being able to get a few decent pictures too!

This one is cropped. Not sure if it's the same bird.

My nuthatches don't give a hoot about my presence when I am gardening. Cheeky little rascals.

The White-breasted Nuthatches showed up today and I guess they are here now for the winter. Hope to get some good shots of them soon.

In the meantime, more Red-breasted Nuthatch dandruff.

    Taken at 200mm and uncropped.

Great shot kiwi. I had a good chance today at a White-breasted on a tree trunk, but was not fast enough pressing the shutter button.

I just put out a big block of seed that's for the woodpeckers & flickers but my nuthatch doesn't mind sharing.

    Re: My nuthatches

You people need to stop sequestering your Red-breasteds and send them over east! A few have been sighted in the Piedmont of NC in the last week, and it's not every year they show up, so... fingers crossed for this year...

    Re: My nuthatches

Only if you send a few white-breasted our way - they're few and far between in western WA.  I think someone reported one last year but it's hard to spot these little speeders. Ours will visit the feeder all winter long.  Good luck!

A poor picture taken in poor light this morning. ISO set at 800. Shot through a window.

Nonetheless, this is the first White-breasted Nuthatch I have ever photographed. See them frequently, but never seem to be ready with the camera.

My White breasted Nuthatches are not bothered at all by the sound of the chainsaw.
