And the prize is a slimy fish supper!

Actually, I watched this heron for about 10 minutes and it was very successful. Didn't go to bed hungry last night.

Great shots!  They are funny to watch, aren't they!  There is one that literally walks around the wildlife sanctuary I go to; he'll let you get pretty close before he flys away; he just walks around the numerous ponds looking for goodies.

Normally, you associate kingfishers, terns, ospreys, herons and the like with kersplooshing, but wood ducks ain't too shabby when it comes to kersplooshing either.

His kersplooshing even triggered a mini tsunami (to his right)!

    That's a wicked kersplash curlybird!

Of course, kersplashes, kersplooshes, kerplunks and kerplops are all the same thing when it boils right down to it.

I have posted this pic before, but I guess it qualifies as a kersploosh.

These Trumpeter Swans are part of a successful re-introduction program of a once abundant native bird. In spring they fly north to raise their cygnets and then return to ice-free areas around Toronto for winter. They do not like being tagged, but the info those tags provide is saving their bacon!
