    Hawk??

    I tried to match this one up in the guide and can't seem to find it. I've always known them as Sparrow Hawks, but that's not even in the guide. I'll post the best shots I,ve gotten to date, but the birds is very unfriendly and flies when I get within 200 yards.

    I keep going back and forth with this one...I think it is a Red shouldered Hawk. Second choice is Northern Harrier(I don't see facial disk though). If we could /couldn't see the rump patch that would seal it.

    I forgot to mention, these shots were taken in South-eastern Georgia.

    I agree with red-shouldered.  You can make out most of the field marks from that second photo.

    I believe what used to be called a "sparrow hawk" is now called an American Kestrel Big Smile
