    Black Vulture

    Attachment: BLVU_pinwr.jpg

The vultures (both Black and Turkey) were out in force today on the east coast of Florida.  I know some of you don't care much for vultures, but I like them fine.  I don't know how you can't like a bird that as photogenic as this!

(Taken today at Pelican Island NWR, no crop or edit)

    Re: Black Vulture

Thanks, everyone!  It was an unusual opportunity to get so close.  He was perched in a dead tree, right near the welcome center.  He got a bit nervous when I walked closer, but he didn't fly off immediately.  It actually looked like he was having a hard time staying on the perch.  The sea breeze was pretty strong.

Great shot, Lyceel!  I think vultures are pretty cool too.

Matt.....maybe if you want to get one in your yard, you could go out, lay on the lawn and "play dead"? Wink

    Re: Black Vulture

What's not to love about a vulture?  The more dead things they eat the less disease is spread to other animals.
