    Eagle series

I was watching the Bald Eagles fish along the Susquehanna River below the Conowingo Dam this morning. This time of year they gather in numbers and photographers line up along the river to catch them in action. It's one of those times when I'd trade my car for a bigger lens.

Great action shots very well done. It would have been really terrific if the Eagle had of played by the rules and flew towards you.

    Again great shots

Thanks. You're right, he wasn't cooperating, but I was just lucky to get what I got. I'm finding the autofocus on this Canon 300 IS lens to be less sensitive than you need it to be to get really great shots of birds in flight. There are an awful lot of throw aways for every one that comes out half way sharp.

Incredible series!  Capturing an eagle during a "fishing expedition" is always exciting!  Thanks!

    Very cool, mj!

Ever consider renting a big lens for an occasion like that?  I rented an f/2.8 300mm prime for a trip, from borrowlenses.com, and I was really happy with the results.

I haven't tried it, but I may look into that. It would be worth it if I knew the weather and sunlight were going to be good on a day during Nov.-Dec. while the eagles are plentiful and I have a few hours to spend. I'd probably go for a 500-600mm, like a lot of other people use at Conowingo to shoot these guys.
