Last year, 2006 we had a pair of house finches set up housekeeping under our metal carport. They had two sittings. I so enjoyed watching these birds throughout their young upbringing. This spring they came back to build a new nest and the female sat on the nest for about 28 days, then left. There was never a sign of any young, egg remnants or other. Mama bird left and about a month later I noticed the pair coming and flying away with parts of the nest. They never had a second sitting there. Is it common for House Finches to move their nest sites? I am so disappointed that they have moved to another location, I really enjoyed them. Thank you for your comments. gmakirk
