For since I can remember our database sorted everything alphabetically. We spent the last week inventing a way for it to sort taxonomically and it’s now working.

What is really interesting is how much more educational it is to view the birds this way. When you get a match window birds that are alike are grouped together!

The photo section is very awkward and time-consuming to navigate.  There is no easy or quick way to view photos that are mentioned in the messages.  I have to open each page in sequence, in order to move down and can't skip over any pages.  It would be nice to have a prompt button on messages to directly link to photos that are the subject of discussion.  Perhaps a visible photo number could be attached and used in the messages, that could be quickly entered in a Search box.  The latest news states that GIF photos can now be posted.  Is there a list of other photo formats that can be used, somewhere on this website?

I completely agree, the photo gallery is very hard to use. Its part of the community server open source system we use here, and, as such, we are sort of stuck with what they have implemented. We are looking for a better photo gallery add on, and hope to find that soon, as I am sure other people have ran into the weaknesses you refer to. You can attach the following image file types in the forums:

jpg; gif; bmp; pcx; png; pic

You should see an Attachment field and a Browse button at the bottom of the posting window, where you can upload your file, and not have to use the Photo Gallery.
