    Bird Identification

I need help on identifying a small brown/tan/white bird.  size 5-6 inches. color brown/tan/white.  markings. wings are similar to a finch. most outstanding is a white stripe in the center of his head which meets in the back of his head with the white stripes from his eyes to form a perfect St. George's cross on the back of his head.  Agressive eater at the feeder..

    Re: Bird Identification

A picture would help.  Could be a sparrow of some kind but would be difficult to ID without a picture or at least more details as to where you saw it, etc

    Re: Bird Identification

It would help to know where you are located. What you are describing sounds like a White-crowned Sparrow.

It does sound like a White- Throated or White Crowned sparrow. Try to get a picture.
