    2 Sparrows

I think the one in the forefront is a chipping sparrow.  Not sure of the other.   The bush row along my fence line is full of house sparrows but these two looked different....smaller.

Close one is a chipper for sure, rear one looks like a song sparrow.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because you were there.

I believe the one in the front is a Chipping Sparrow, although I'm not sure that the far one is a Song Sparrow.

The supercilium doesn't look right for a Song Sparrow (then again, I could be wrong). Is it possible it is also a Chipper?

    Re: 2 Sparrows

The one in the back is so much grayer.  The only picture in my guide that comes close is a swamp sparrow.

I never realized there were so dang many different sparrows until I started visiting this site and looking in the guides?

    Re: 2 Sparrows

The one in the rear is a Lincoln's Sparrow - Song Sparrow would show much heavier streaking. And the bird in the front is a Chipping Sparrow.

    I agree with Raptor.

    Re: 2 Sparrows

My Peterson's guide shows the Lincolns and an immature Swamp sparrow side by side.  They are very similar.  What tips the hat to a Lincoln's?

    The Sibley Guide Wink

You wouldn't find young sparrows at this time of year, and also Swamp Sparrows are usually found in swampy areas.

There you go, Raptor said it best.

    Chipping Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow.
