Just curious--are you near a water source?

That is a fascinating pic; no doubt it will be identified here!

I can't get my hands on my field guide right now... but I think it's an American tree sparrow.

Not an American Tree Sparrow, no spot on the chest.  Not enough for me to diagnose.  Is the lower bill transparent or is it just me???

    My guess is Field Sparrow.

There was a small creek nearby with some water in it and a flooded field about a mile away. Katy Prairie west of Houston. Here are a couple more not very good pictures. Tree sparrow would be rare here. Perhaps field sparrow is correct.

    For certain a field sparrow.

    Re: I Just Don't Know

I used to raise zebra finches, and it looks sort of like a white varety female.  Maybe an escape?  I know some of mine did, though I don'y believe this is one of them.

    Re: I Just Don't Know

With the new pics it looks even more like a Field Sparrow.

It's the orange beak and legs that make it look exotic.

    Re: I Just Don't Know

Without being able to see the top or back...I have a few ideas: tree sparrow or a field sparrow...both are similar looking
