    Wigeons....???

Are these wigeons??  If so, American??  To me they look like an AW...but not exactly like the several I've seen.  Perhaps its because of the poor quality photo.... it is zoomed in and it was a cloudy, rainy and foggy day.

The duck is the back is a Gadwall. I think the front one is a Eurasian wigeon, but  I'm not sure.

    Re: Wigeons....???

The rear bird is a drake Gadwall, and the front bird is a drake American (not Eurasian) Wigeon.

    Re: Wigeons....???

I actually knew that was a Gadwall because when I went to find a better shot, I had that bird cropped and saved as 'Gadwall' with my other Gadwall, Teal...ducks folder.

    Thanks for the hasty replies.

    P.S.

Cirrus..... did you photograph that Caracara in your avatar??

My mother is in southern Florida now for my sister's wedding (long story why I am not there) and I was somewhat bummed I couldn't take in all the amazing birds Florida has to offer south of Ft. Laudy (and north).  She offered to take some photos for me.  In addition to an awesome, yet introduced, Red-Wiskered Bulbul and a (not sure what kind yet) Tropicbird, this morning she sent me a, granted fuzzy cell phone photo, of a Northern Caracara that was running along the ground like (in her own words) 'the small, smart, mean dinosaurs from Jurrasic Park'.....which she ment Velociraptors......  I supposed the common root word 'raptor' isn't a coincidence.  I know, since I went twice when I was younger, that my family frequents Bill Baggs State Park....not sure if thats where the birds were...but it is a good bet.  I wish I was into birding when I went there 3+ years ago.

If you did take that shot, I am officially jealous.  I'm trying to get the florida bird pics off my cell and onto the site but I am having difficulty...  I can't use them as my own or part of my checklist, but I want to show them off.....and find out which Tropicbird it is...I'm having trouble telling if it has a red tail or not.  I'm leaning towards Red-tail because it has a bright red-orange bill.....and photos I've seen of RTTbirds have that color bill.
