Hmmm, featherbrain, didn't think I would ever argue with you. Well, ok, maybe not "argue" but not totally agree, either! I'm still leaning toward the EC Dove, for a couple reasons. I was taking pictures of two Western Kingbirds sitting on a power line half way down the alley of the block across the street from me. This bird appeared to be much larger than the kingbirds, which were so blurry in the picture you couldn't tell that's what they were. I'm aware a bird in flight would appear larger than it would while perched, but this was just much larger than I would expect the kingbirds to be.
I see what you suggest is the yellow belly, but there are bits on the wings that also appear to be yellowish to me. And the white line is from the greatly enlarged picture. There is actually a white line completely around the bird. And in the second picture, don't the outer tail feathers of the dove appear to be white or at least much lighter? I think the tail may appear to be solid black because of the lighting and the angle of the bird.
Guess I'm going to have to take lots & lots of pictures of birds at the same location and hope to eventually catch one (I've already identified) in flight in the same position!
