I just joined the forum even though I've been using this site for about a month now. We've had feeders and wathched the birds for sveral years now but I recently decided to get serious with the watching. I dug out the binoculars, bought myself a camera, and I'm having so much fun. I live in west central Mississippi on several wooded acres in the county. We have al the usual Southern birds that come to the feeders. There are pairs wood ducks, summer tanagers, and eastern towhees nesting on our place, the wrens have already raised one brood on the propane tank, and there are more juvenile cardinals than I can keep up with. I've discovered birds that I never even knew were in this area such as blue gray gnatcatchers and orchard orioles.
There are plenty of trees around but I want to put in some shrubs around the yard this fall. I'd love any suggestions for bird friendly plants.
